3D MODELS, PRODUCTS & PROPS

DOWNLOAD ALL VISUALS HERE

Today’s meeting is about looking at all the 3D models included in this project. We will discuss if the products look good, if the ingredients are off in any way and the art direction of the Jell-O. The first main image below are all the props and products placed on a table for a nice overview. I also took some snapshots of some of the details. These are not necessarily images for the final stills or the animation. More on that in our next meeting. However, towards the end of this presentation we will look at a few sketches on that to ensure we dial in the final look and feel.

(The images can appear grainy but that’s just the medium quality render setting used throughout. Best viewed on a desktop. )

Product balance and Jelly landscape

Here I’ve made a visual comparison using 3 jelly balms with 1 large mist. [left]
and a version using only 1 jelly. [right}
Look at these and imagine we’ve paused the animation. So these are not the stills.

Let’s also discuss the jelly world. The first examples are using the typical Jell-O dessert look vs a more abstract fun world using shapes that form a Jelly world.

01: 3 Jellies + 1 Mist

02: 1 Jelly + 1 Mist

03: Abstract jelly shapes

C. Still images

Let’s look at some examples for the still images. I created some variants using a Jell-O shape and some broken off squares both similar to the brief. We can talk about lighting, camera angles, background and product placement.

04: Low camera angle, Jell-O dessert sitting on a plate. Neutral grey background. A colored gradient background? Sky background?

05: Slightly higher camera angle. Nice caustics on surface. Square shaped pieces of jelly.

06: Maybe add ingredients?

07: Bounce test. Platforms need to be big to fit the Mist.
